Following my Hartman

 

When your best friend mentioned to me that she and her fiancé, Sam, are getting married at the Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise in Canada and they want you to photograph their wedding, you get speechless….. I could not believe it. After they got engaged, she told me that she wanted to do a destination wedding since everything in Maryland so highly priced for what you get. Almost every week or two, Anna would call me with more wedding details that she had discussed with Jacqueline, their wedding planner. Day after day I was getting more and more excited to make the adventure up to Lake Louise and see all of the planning come together. By the time I knew it, I was in customs at the Calgary International Airport.

 

I have to start this with a little back story of how I met Anna. In December of 2015 I moved to Maryland after my husband got orders to Fort Meade. It’s always scary moving somewhere that you don’t know anyone. I decided to work even harder at my photography and get out there and meet other photographers. I had figured that that would be a good place to start. In June of 2016, Nick was gone for work and I ranted on Facebook that I had nothing to do one day. My friend Tracey commented on my post and shared a styled shoot that would be starting in about 2 hours. I had a decision to make. Do I stay home and dwell or do I go to a shoot where I know absolutely nobody? As you may have guessed, I got my butt up off of the couch and drove to Sandy Point Park in Annapolis for the shoot. I sat in traffic trying to get into the park for almost an hour (granted it was a Sunday afternoon and very nice weather….). I almost decided to leave because it got ridiculous but I stuck it out. I finally get parked and go to find the group for the shoot. Anna was sitting there on the ground getting her make up done. I found out recently that she almost left because her make up didn’t look good and she was fed up with how things were going…. I also met Missy at this shoot and she almost left as well… We were all bound to be at this shoot and stick it out! At the end of the shoot, Anna and I realized that we parked in the same lot and talked the whole way to our cars. We made plans to do a shoot for her blog not even a week later. It was truly fate and I am so thankful for this styled shoot!

 

If you have been following along with my weddings this year, every morning of a wedding has been raining and gross until right before the ceremony and then everything cleared up. BUT that is not the case for Sam + Anna’s wedding day. It was bright and sunny the entire day. We did get a little smoke haze towards the end of the evening but that is besides the point! We truly could not have asked for a better day at such an amazing and beautiful wedding location. Although there were only about 35 guests at the wedding, you could feel all of the love surrounding the happy newlyweds <3

 

 

I truly owe more than you will never to these two beautiful souls and I can not thank them enough for choosing me to capture this special chapter in their lives. <3
