Thank you Maryland

Being stationed in Maryland has drastically changed my life and I would not want it any other way. Living here has given me so many memories in the past 3+ years. I was so bummed to be leaving Florida when Nick informed me that we got orders…. But I can’t even begin to explain how much this state has done for me. I have experienced a lot in those three years that I had to break it up into sections <3

1. House of Flynn / Mexico

The House of Flynn has completely changed my life…… I was added into the big HOF Facebook group about a month or so before I moved to Maryland but I did not know much about the company or the group itself. A couple months after I moved to Maryland, Maureen had posted about a big photographers retreat to Mexico….. My friend Emily sent me a message and said lets go. I was a little on edge since I had never been out of the country or on a trip that big by myself. I then asked my husband and he said no due to safety reasons. I then jokingly posted on one of Maureen’s posts saying the tI wish she could convince my husband to let me go. She responded and invited my husband and I up to her house to discuss the trip!! I let their house with a yes from my husband and a new (injured by the mailman) rose gold evermore from Maureen herself!

The House of Flynn has done more than just that though……. Because of her, I have met 3 of my absolute best friends….. I met my best friend Natalie in the group when she posted about needing help with editing a photo! I also met Anna and Missy indirectly from the group…. Someone that I had met in the group told me about a styled shoot that was taking place just an hour after she told me. Nick was out of town and I didn’t have anything else to do but I was so nervous to go since I didn’t know anyone. But I went and Missy and Anna were both there! I am so so thankful for HOF and all the memories and friendships I have made because of one amazing company.

2. My babe – Natalie

This girl has been my rock since right after I moved to Maryland. She was my first friend and the one I tell pretty much everything to. We laugh and cry together over everything whether it is big or small, personal or business, over a guy or something we are just irritated with. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the middle of the night or whether we are sober (meaning her since I don’t drink like ever lol). I know that she is always just a phone call away no matter where I am in the world <3

3. Missy <3

Missy came into my life in such an unexpected way! I went to that shoot not expecting to meet anybody and it turns out that I found one of my best friends. We didn’t talk a whole lot within that first year of knowing each other but then it blossomed very quickly! I am so blessed to have met this dime of a woman and I am so thankful for the memories we have created together thus far.

4. The one and only, Anna <3

This girl. What can I tell you about Anna….. Hm. She’s my best friend, she has brought me places I never thought I would go, and she introduced me to Shake Shack. But seriously… My business would not be where it is today without her. When we first started shooting together I was still learning about posing, shooting in manual and exploring the DMV area for locations to shoot at. Thanks to this lady for showing me around and for always being the best model and friend that I could ever ask for. She brought me to New York for the weekend, asked to me to come to the beautiful country of Canada to photograph her wedding, and has shown me all around Baltimore. She has also introduced me to an amazing extension of my brand which is product and lifestyle portrait sessions with bloggers and influencers. I never thought that this was something that I would enjoy until shooting with Anna almost every weekend. <3

5. Blogger Babes <3

These girls are seriously the best! After a few months of working solely with Anna, she mentioned doing blogger shoots with some local bloggers in the Baltimore/DC area. I love the way that all of these ladies come together and support one another. I have gotten to meet some of my really good friends this way. This is just another example of why I am so happy to have met Anna. I never ever got lonely while living in Maryland!

6. Photog babes + Photo experiences!

I don’t even know where to begin with this section…. I have met so many amazingly talented photographers in Maryland. When we were in Florida I never marketed or networked. I never even met one other photographer and only had one really good friend. I wanted to change that while being in Maryland and I definitely achieved that.

7. The Cutiyogs:

This family is the absolute BEST. Nick and Steven were in ALS together and Kelly and I met for the first time after they graduated. We are instantly attached at the hip; as well as Emma and I. These two ladies are my rocks and I have no idea where I would be today without all of our Target and Ikea runs! I can’t imagine living life without them <3

8. The Butlers

Would you believe me if I told you that I asked Vanessa and Eric to watch our 3 cats for almost 2 weeks the night we met them? Talk about trusting…. Even though the only thing in the house that was worth value, except for the cats, was a $200 tv…. lol The hardest thing about not living next them anymore is not being able to ask to borrow something and meet on the deck to grab it… Just yesterday I really needed tinfoil and I was about to text Vanessa until I realized that I am not in Maryland anymore….

9. Friends + Family (in Maryland and who came to visit!):

I wish that I could more into this section more detailed but there would just be too much to say <3 I am so thankful for everyone who came out to visit us <3 I am also thankful for these other few friendships that I made!

That time when Brianna came and said we should get a tattoo……

10. With my hubs!

Maryland was very good to my hubs and I. Nick was able to play on three beer league hockey teams and was able to coach the U19 girls Tri City Eagles hockey team. We also have the privilege to attend Dover Speedway for four nascar races! We are truly blessed <3

RIP bubs <3

A little backstory before product photography came into my life…   I started really getting into photographing other people when we were in Florida in 2015. We then moved to Maryland in December of 2015 and that is when my business grew. I had regular clients, weddings, second shot a lot of weddings, and finally began […]

I remember how terribly inconsistent I was with poses during an engagement session back when I started photography and my oh my..   Do you remember Anna? Back in July of 2016 I was invited to a styled shoot by a friend 30 minutes before it started. I ended up getting stuck in traffic on […]

One thing I have learned from this quarantine (as a family photographer) is that there is always more work that can be done to work on your craft. Even if that does not include shooting. I am going back through older sessions and came across this session with my best friend Natalie of Natalie Grace […]
