One of the best part of getting married is celebrating your engagement! I love being able to celebrate along side of my clients from photographing the proposal to photographing their weddings! I always get asked all the time “Do I need to do an engagement session” or I get told “A friend offered to do our engagement photos so we do not need more.” Below are 4 reasons to partake in an engagement session with your wedding photographer!
I include a complimentary engagement session in all of my wedding packages. Doing an engagement session will help relieve any tension or uneasiness with taking photos. Not everyone is comfortable in front or the camera or not everyone likes having their picture taken. There is nothing better than loosening up before the wedding day.
Other than meeting with clients to book their wedding photography coverage with me, I love to get to know my clients in a raw, fun way before the wedding day. Everyone photographs differently and I want to make sure I know you 100% before the wedding day! It’s the little things like, what are your best sides or any of the other little details that I should know.
Any time I ask clients this question they tend to say either high school or college graduation photos. Everyone tells me that they are awkward in front of the camera and they have absolutely no idea what to do. My response every time is: “Trust me!!” This is what I do for a living and I love to bring out my clients personalities into the photos. But don’t fret, we will still do some posed photos for parents and grandparents!
Doing an engagement session can also be helpful for your invites and save the dates. The photos will be consistent wit your wedding photos and can be used to share excitement leading up to your special day! These photos will show your love for each other!
And afterwards it’s an excuse to go out for a date night since you are already dressed up!!

Is there anything better than a maternity session on the beach…? (Hint: the answer is no…. lol) I vividly remember the day that Anna told me she was pregnant. I was just leaving base in Germany and pulled over since she was calling me on video. To say I was in disbelief is an […]
COVID-19 has definitely changed a lot this year in so many ways from how we style and celebrate milestones to how we socialize with friends and family. This past week Chandler asked me for some ideas of how to capture her birthday which just so happened to be the last day of her lock in […]
A little backstory before product photography came into my life… I started really getting into photographing other people when we were in Florida in 2015. We then moved to Maryland in December of 2015 and that is when my business grew. I had regular clients, weddings, second shot a lot of weddings, and finally began […]
I remember how terribly inconsistent I was with poses during an engagement session back when I started photography and my oh my.. Do you remember Anna? Back in July of 2016 I was invited to a styled shoot by a friend 30 minutes before it started. I ended up getting stuck in traffic on […]
One thing I have learned from this quarantine (as a family photographer) is that there is always more work that can be done to work on your craft. Even if that does not include shooting. I am going back through older sessions and came across this session with my best friend Natalie of Natalie Grace […]
If you are stationed in Germany, you have most likely been to Burg Lichtenberg at least a handful of times. This is one of my favorite castles to go to for family sessions. The kids love to run around and play and the adults can really take in the scenery around Burg Lichtenberg. Going to this […]
