One of the best part of getting married is celebrating your engagement! I love being able to celebrate along side of my clients from photographing the proposal to photographing their weddings! I always get asked all the time “Do I need to do an engagement session” or I get told “A friend offered to do our engagement photos so we do not need more.” Below are 4 reasons to partake in an engagement session with your wedding photographer!
I include a complimentary engagement session in all of my wedding packages. Doing an engagement session will help relieve any tension or uneasiness with taking photos. Not everyone is comfortable in front or the camera or not everyone likes having their picture taken. There is nothing better than loosening up before the wedding day.
Other than meeting with clients to book their wedding photography coverage with me, I love to get to know my clients in a raw, fun way before the wedding day. Everyone photographs differently and I want to make sure I know you 100% before the wedding day! It’s the little things like, what are your best sides or any of the other little details that I should know.
Any time I ask clients this question they tend to say either high school or college graduation photos. Everyone tells me that they are awkward in front of the camera and they have absolutely no idea what to do. My response every time is: “Trust me!!” This is what I do for a living and I love to bring out my clients personalities into the photos. But don’t fret, we will still do some posed photos for parents and grandparents!
Doing an engagement session can also be helpful for your invites and save the dates. The photos will be consistent wit your wedding photos and can be used to share excitement leading up to your special day! These photos will show your love for each other!
And afterwards it’s an excuse to go out for a date night since you are already dressed up!!

Daily I go back and forth between whether or not I like sunrise or sunset better. I have to say though after Julie + Jordan’s engagement session, I prefer the lighting […]
I am a new photographer to the KMC area and I am so happy that Josh + Caryn chose me to capture their maternity session at Burg Lichtenberg! I just got back from visiting family and friends in Minnesota and Maryland on Friday and got to jump right back into photography yesterday with these two. […]
I had the honor of being the photographer for a family friends wedding at the beautiful 7 Vines Vineyard that is located in Dellwood, Minnesota. I could start off by telling you about the wedding day but I am actually gonna give a little back story. I met Ashley and her family back when […]
Last year I did a family session at the Minnesota State Fair and this year I got to do an engagement session! I had planned the session with Maddie and Gabe about a month ago and not too long after Gabe proposed! At fist I was kinda bummed that he didn’t do it at the […]
I went to Paris last weekend. Casually went to Paris. I never, ever thought those words would come out of my mouth. My friend Emily found this dress while we were shopping in Saarbrücken a couple months ago. She found it as we were walking out of T.K.Maxx and immediately said that it would look […]
